Hello!
I have done plenty of camping here in Montana where I live, even during the hottest times of the year, but I have never camped in hot desert climates. What advice can you share that might impact what I bring for the week? Or things I should know in general?
Here, I have to worry about bears and bring bear proof containers when camping - any similar considerations?
What about snakes and scorpions and tarantulas? I'm imagining an Indiana Jones sort of experience is bound to happen. Hopefully not the case! Do you keep you boots in your tent so they aren't in there in the morning?
Should I expect my tent and everything in it will be covered in sand by the end? I have a 4-season tent that would protect from sand blowing if it's really windy, but it has fairly poor ventilation, so I was planning to bring a lighter tent. Thoughts?
Again, I'm an experienced camper/outdoorsman in general (I know to bring layered clothing, plenty of water, light, food, etc.), but am just not confident about how it will be different with the whole desert thing.
Any and all advice is appreciated!
Thank you,
Eric
PS sorry to post this in Ride Share - I couldn't find a different place to post it!
